Are your offices or commercial space in need of a deep clean after winter? Melanie Rosettenstein chats to Adam Mercer from Commercial Asset Maintenance about how he and his team go all out to ensure the deepest cleans for their clients come springtime or anytime.

There’s nothing like a good spring clean to set the world right, especially after winter. And the same is true in commercial spaces where high foot traffic and busy communal areas can attract stubborn dirt and grime, especially if your regular cleaning isn’t keeping up with the demand. Commercial Asset Maintenance caters to a wide range of spaces including industrial sites, office spaces, retail areas, airports, print factories, restaurants, and resorts. Each of these environments presents unique cleaning challenges, from high-traffic areas to specialised surfaces requiring different cleaning materials.

Commercial Asset Maintenance owner Adam Mercer says before he starts a deep clean, he first conducts a free, 30-minute consult to fully understand the client’s needs and tailor their cleaning solution accordingly.

“Talking to the client first is a key part of what we do. Not every client is the same so we work hard to understand what their pain points are, what the priorities are and how we can tackle them,” he explains.

What sets Adam’s service apart is his fleet of commercial cleaning equipment. Using advanced machinery like ride-on scrubbers, commercial carpet machines, high pressure steam and dual vacuum systems, and ionic-fed water poles for streak-free window cleaning, he is well equipped to provide an effective and efficient service.

“This equipment allows my team to swoop in and clean large areas quickly and thoroughly which makes all the difference to our clients,” he enthuses.

When his team arrives on site, Adam says they take no prisoners when it comes to ensuring they get into all the nooks and crannies – and leave no dirt behind.

“It’s common that regular cleaners don’t move the bins or clean the corners thoroughly,” Adam says. “The drawback is that this neglect can lead to heavily soiled floors and carpets, making them difficult to restore.”

Adam says his team ensures a comprehensive clean by moving all items, stripping surfaces back to their bare state and using their advanced machinery to get into the hardest-to-reach places.

“We do it all – and then we put everything back, right down to straightening out that last boardroom chair,” he states.

Using a recent business based in Chevallum as an example, Adam recounts how they had to clean a tricky space with a mezzanine area using a variety of cleaning materials.

“It was a dual occupancy space where they had tiles downstairs, and upstairs was their office with a carpeted area and desks,” he recalls. “In this instance what we like to do is clean the desks first then put all the chairs up and clean the floors.

“From there we clean bathrooms and kitchens and literally work back from there working our way out the door.”

In addition to using innovative equipment, Adam says his staff are well-trained according to standard operating procedures to ensure they use the right cleaning chemicals for the job at hand.

“There’s a real science behind the chemicals used on different surfaces,” he says. “Kitchen tiles with high traffic and grease require a caustic cleaner, while tiles near a park with just dirt need a neutral cleaner.

“Using the wrong chemical can leave a residue, so understanding the right products is crucial for effective commercial cleaning.”

He also adds that his company uses GECA-approved products to ensure they are not harmful to the environment or the people who use the space he is cleaning.

“Depending on what contracts we have in place, some of our clients stipulate what they want, not only for environmentally-friendly purposes but also for safety purposes,” he says.

Besides going deep with the cleaning, Adam and his team also pay meticulous attention to the details.

“We make sure we have enough consumables for the job and we also ensure we leave the space not only looking clean but smelling clean – it’s got to look good and smell good,” he says.

Regarding the short and long term benefits of spring cleaning your commercial space, Adam says regular deep cleans promote a healthier work environment and employee well-being by reducing germs and bacteria.

“One positive that came from COVID was how it taught us how many germs are in the air and on our surfaces,” he says. “Most of our chemicals are 99.9% antibacterial, we use thorough techniques to get our blade mops into tricky corners, and we replace microfibre heads after use to ensure we aren’t spreading dirt and germs around.”

A long term benefit of deep cleans and regular commercial cleaning is that is also adds longevity to surfaces.

“If you let your surfaces stay dirty for long periods, oil and dirt is going to leach into them, making them increasingly difficult to keep clean,” Adam says.

If your office space has green spaces these will also need some attention with the changing of the season.

“Spring is the start of the growing season and we have all the mowers, blowers, edges and hedges to keep things in check and looking beautiful,” Adam concludes.

Focussing on thorough processes, a rock-solid commitment to client satisfaction and investing in high quality advanced equipment, Commercial Asset Management is the standout choice for your next spring clean.
