With my wedding day looming and the IN Noosa Magazine deadline creeping up fast, the team decided it was time to escape the pressure and indulge in a weekend of camping. Now, I’ve been camping before but a night spent sleeping in the car because my tent leaked means I much prefer five-stars than sleeping under the stars. While I appreciate the connection to the environment that camping brings and how beautiful it is to wake to the sounds of birds, I draw the line at pesky spiders, sandy tents and air mattresses that go down through the night so you wake with a sore back and headache. So, when Publisher and Editor-in-Chief Deb suggested a weekend spent camping I was more than a little hesitant, but the promise of Rosé and a fully-catered getaway caught my attention. We were also going to mix a bit of business with pleasure, taking the opportunity to use the beautiful setting to shoot a car ad as well as to share the experiences with our readers. How could I say ‘no’?\n

As the name suggests, Pitch Luxury Camping offers a luxurious take on the traditional form of camping. Known as ‘glamping’, glamorous camping sees guests treated\nto beautiful high-pitched bell tents,\ndesigner furnishings and everything\nalready set-up so all you need to do\nis pack a bag with your personal\nessentials and stock an esky with\nyour favourite tipples.\n

I headed for the glamping site in\nKenilworth still hesitant despite the\npromise of fully catered meals and\nfreshly chilled wine. As I drove down\nthe dirt road bordered by a beautiful\nlake with a gaggle of geese lounging\nby the roadside, I started to think that\nmaybe this outdoors experience would\nbe different to my previous disasters.\n

When we arrive, owners Tim and\nLisa Mitchell are busy adding the\nfinishing touches as I pull up to the\nlush camp site nestled next to a\nbabbling brook. Most guests normally\nwouldn’t see these architectural angels\nas they set everything up, but for our\nassignment we needed all hands on\ndeck to set up the photoshoot (and for\nTim to paddle in the background while\nwe sipped Rosé and posed for the\ncamera! Refer to the Subaru ad and\nsee if you can spot him!). Besides,\nthe journalist in me had questions that\nneeded answering.\n

Starting the business a few years\nago, nature lovers Tim and Lisa wanted\nto encourage others to enjoy the great\noutdoors.\n

“We love to camp and get outside\nwhether we’re hiking or swimming, so\nwe want others to enjoy it too,” Tim\nsays. “We do everything for our guests\nso they can just enjoy the nature and\nbeautiful locations. From setting up to\npacking down, we do the hard work so\nour guests can relax and take it all in.”\n

“We are a very mobile service and\nwe love to adventure anywhere!”\n

\nAs the rest of the IN Noosa\nMagazine team arrived, we got busy\nwith the photoshoot fun before enjoying\nan afternoon of relaxing, celebrating\nmy forthcoming wedding and forgetting\nabout the deadline for just a few hours.\n

\nFamily-owned and operated, Pitch\nLuxury Camping can set up their bell\ntents anywhere you want from the\nNoosa North Shore camping site to\nprivate property and everything\nin between. They can provide a\nsleeping tent or a community of tents\nwith a range of bed configurations\n– from a queen bed for romantic\ngetaways or single beds for group\nbookings. We were cosy and warm\nwith our five single beds, soft pillows\nand luxury bedding.\n

\nWe also had a matching\nentertaining tent complete with low\ndining table, oodles of cushions, board\ngames, fairy lights, torches and\ncandles. A fire pit, pop-up kitchen tent\nwith gas cooktop and everything\nneeded for washing the dishes is also\nprovided or Pitch can organise catering\nfor all dietary requirements and to suit\nall budgets and tastebuds. We indulged\nin the full catering package and dined\nlike queens with a range of healthy and\ndelicious foods source from local\nsuppliers. A gorgeous tea, coffee and\nbiscotti hamper, hancrafted ceramic\nplates and cutlery are standard\ninclusions – no plastic plates here!\nThis is what camping should be:\nluxurious, comfortable and hassle-free.\n

The services can also include a private\nchef; ready-to-go gourmet hampers;\nfarm stay and recreational activities; kids\nbirthday party sleepovers and even\nChristmas parties. For our starlit soirée,\nwe took advantage of Pitch’s exclusive\ncampsite on a private property called\nYabbaloumba Retreat, just outside\nKenilworth. Once the photoshoot was out\nof the way, it was time to get on with the\nmain reason we were here – girl time!\n

\nOur Fashion Editor Carlie organised a\nsurprise lip reading by founder of Organic\nLip Balm Janine Hall. Lip lady to the stars,\nJanine’s organic products have featured in\nthe Emmy Awards goodie bags for the\npast two years and we even got a sneak\npeek at her new One Million Kisses book\n(read all about it on page 80).\n

\nA dip in the pristine water hole,\nattempts to build a fire and hilarious card\ngames took us through the night and I\nwoke at 6am to the sounds of placid cows\nmaking their way down the gently sloping\nhill. A rising sun and gentle breeze\nstopped me in my tracks as I took a\nmoment to fully appreciate the simplistic\njoy that is camping.\n

As Walt Whitman says “Now I know\nthe secret of the making of the best\nperson; it is to grow in the open air and to\neat and sleep with the earth”. This is what\ncamping is all about. I just prefer to\nconnect to the earth knowing I will sleep\nin a luxurious tent and dine on gourmet\nfood with great friends - and have\nsomeone else set up and pack up!\n

The Luxe Life

With my wedding day looming and the IN Noosa Magazine deadline creeping up fast, the team decided it was time to escape the pressure and indulge in a weekend of camping. Now, I’ve been camping before but a night spent sleeping in the car because my tent leaked means I much prefer five-stars than sleeping under the stars.

How could I say ‘no’?

As the name suggests, Pitch Luxury Camping offers a luxurious take on the traditional form of camping. Known as ‘glamping’, glamorous camping sees guests treated to beautiful high-pitched bell tents, designer furnishings and everything already set-up so all you need to do is pack a bag with your personal essentials and stock an esky with your favourite tipples.

I headed for the glamping site in Kenilworth still hesitant despite the promise of fully catered meals and freshly chilled wine. As I drove down the dirt road bordered by a beautiful lake with a gaggle of geese lounging by the roadside, I started to think that maybe this outdoors experience would be different to my previous disasters.

When we arrive, owners Tim and Lisa Mitchell are busy adding the finishing touches as I pull up to the lush camp site nestled next to a babbling brook. Most guests normally wouldn’t see these architectural angels as they set everything up, but for our assignment we needed all hands on deck to set up the photoshoot (and for Tim to paddle in the background while we sipped Rosé and posed for the camera! Refer to the Subaru ad and see if you can spot him!). Besides, the journalist in me had questions that needed answering.

Starting the business a few years ago, nature lovers Tim and Lisa wanted to encourage others to enjoy the great outdoors.

“We love to camp and get outside whether we’re hiking or swimming, so we want others to enjoy it too,” Tim says. “We do everything for our guests so they can just enjoy the nature and beautiful locations. From setting up to packing down, we do the hard work so our guests can relax and take it all in.”

“We are a very mobile service and we love to adventure anywhere!”

We were cosy and warm with our five single beds, soft pillows and luxury bedding.

We also had a matching entertaining tent complete with low dining table, oodles of cushions, board games, fairy lights, torches and candles. A fire pit, pop-up kitchen tent with gas cooktop and everything needed for washing the dishes is also provided or Pitch can organise catering for all dietary requirements and to suit all budgets and tastebuds.
