Powerful Kia fit for family

Paul Sheavils , owner of Led by Design and father-of- four, reviews the performance of the new Kia Sorento Si.

Besides its generous size and capacity to seat seven, I found the Kia Sorento to be a very nimble  and responsive car  with a lot of power fora diesel  engine.

We already have a Kia Carnival which is a necessity  when you have four kids however, the Sorento would be a perfect second car because i t’s very comfortable and it can also take the whole family.

The legroom in the third row  was good and  easy to access with deep  foot bays an d the second-row seats slide forward easily .Three anchorage points and two ISOFIX points offer lots of choices for the kids safety seats. Owen brought a mate with him so we had 5 kids and there was still lots of space and room. We even fit the luggage and pram in the boot!

I love the versatility with split fold seats for both the 2nd and 3rd row, so I can put the board in and go for a surf and t he hand’s free tailgate release and keyless entry is great for when you have your hands full.

It seems to be a very intelligent and intuitive car , all the things you would expect are there and it didn't make me long to figure out where everything was .

There are  ample cup holders, map pockets and console s to assist in keeping things tidy . USBchargers and12 volt power outlets in front and back with 10 high-quali ty speakers helps to keep the kids entertained.

The panoramic sunroof  create a great sense of space when fully open and the motor driven roll blinds are a nice feature, particularly with little ones in the back .

From a comfort perspective, the dual zone climate control air conditioning is a must and  heated seats in the first and second row are great. I particularly love the ventilated seats in the front and the  eight-way power d river’s seat with four-way lumbar support and thigh extender .

The 360 -degreereverse camera withcameras at the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle are great for extra safety andfor parking and tight squeezes.Lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, driver attention alert all offer an increased level of safety

It’s very functional , felt good on the road and handled well. It’s the best family-driven SUV that we’ve seen.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • 360-degree reverse camera
  • Split seats in the 2 nd and 3 rd rows
  • 8-way power driver’s seat
  • Hands-free smart poser tailgate
