The spotlight will be on Noosa fashion with the debut of a luxe weekend of fashionable experiences and a runway event. Carlie Wacker discovers Noosa Fashion Weekend.

Prepare yourself for a full immersion into the fashion scene IN Noosa this November for the inaugural Noosa Fashion Weekend. Presented by Mercedes-Benz Sunshine Coast, it is the latest addition to a stable of luxury events by Fashion Queensland which is run by Laura Churchill – a high-profile fashion expert, stylist and creative entrepreneur leading a team of ardent fashion professionals to deliver a calendar of events.

“Fashion Queensland is the umbrella brand for our annual series of flagship events that span runway, pop-up stores and networking events for both audience and industry,” Laura says. “We’ve been producing premium fashion events in Brisbane for the past ten years and have engaged interstate designers into all of our projects from Brisbane Fashion Month, the Ekka Natural Fibres Fashion Parades, our work with Brisbane Festival, Brisbane Racing Club and another new event we launched earlier this year, Cutting Edge”.

Fashion Queensland is the conduit between emerging designers and national and international markets and I really feel that Noosa Fashion Weekend is the missing link in our region’s fashion industry. There are so many successful and emerging labels, suppliers and creatives that have been screaming out for a platform to showcase their talent. I asked Laura why she chose Noosa.

“Australia is internationally-renowned for resort wear, which serves a huge global market, and Noosa is the epitome of this!” she says “Noosa-born labels like Aje and Palm Noosa are leading the way in Australian fashion and a stroll down Hastings Street really is an immersive experience in fashion, whatever the season.

“I have had some great conversations with key designers, Noosa Council and Tourism Noosa who were all hugely supportive and echoed my feeling that there was opportunity for a premium fashion event in Noosa.

“We’re thrilled to have engaged Mercedes-Benz Sunshine Coast as our festival presenting partner, and for the support of Tourism Noosa, Hastings Street Association, and of course IN Noosa Magazine, in bringing this beautiful inaugural event to life”.

Noosa Fashion Weekend will offer a beautiful runway showcase at the Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort, illustration workshop with the incredible Cass Deller, open studios, store experiences and more events to be confirmed. It will be a full program of unique experiences, an opportunity to discover local fashion and network with the leaders in the space.

“We expect a lot of our Brisbane audience to travel up for the event and the aim is to establish an annual premium fashion festival for Noosa to sit amongst the incredible lifestyle events that take place here,” Laura said. “It’s not just about the fashion either – I want our audience to stay, dine and enjoy the best of the region at the most glorious time of year. I can’t wait to celebrate the start of the party season in style at Noosa Fashion Weekend.”

As an emerging designer I am beyond excited to have this platform to share my label Wacker Clothing Company with locals and the many visitors that will travel to attend Noosa Fashion Weekend. The Festival’s presenting partner, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Sunshine Coast, Aaron Crick, said they were excited to see the community come together to showcase fashion talent.

“I am proud to be supporting the 2024 Noosa Fashion Weekend and to be part of an event that highlights our region’s creativity and fosters connections among local industry professionals,” he said.

Noosa Fashion Weekend is coming in hot and offers an exciting opportunity for designers, makers, suppliers, buyers and shoppers. We welcome you with open arms and grateful hearts. Show your support in true Noosa fashion!
