All is Well at Alsahwa

Just as healthy soil is created by cultivating the land, we need to tend to our mind and body to be the healthiest version of ourselves. Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer explores the new ‘Wellness in Nature’ series at the beautiful Alsahwa Estate…

In our fast-paced modern lives, we often forget to make time for just ‘being’ – turning off technology, stepping away from the to-do list, and focusing on something that calms our mind and regulates our nervous system. Numerous studies have shown that being in the natural world can generate many positive emotions, including calmness, joy, and creativity, which is why some doctors even prescribe nature-based activities such as the Japanese practice of ‘forest bathing’ for medical conditions including stress and anxiety.

Alsahwa Estate is a very special eco lifestyle destination set on a working macadamia farm in Verrierdale in the stunning Noosa hinterland. The team are passionate about sharing their ‘mind, body, planet’ philosophy – and incredible natural surroundings – with the community. Their Wellness in Nature series harnesses the tranquil beauty of the farm as the backdrop for a range of wellness experiences including sound healing, yoga, pilates, vedic meditation sessions and more, all facilitated by local and national experts.

“Following on from our ethos of unstructured wellness, our new Wellness in Nature series encourages people to get outside and exercise in nature; to get their feet in the grass to connect with the earth,” said Alsahwa founder Jo Walker.

“Our little slice of paradise is truly magical, and we hope that people immersing themselves in the natural beauty surrounding them – the trees, dams and wildlife – adds to their wellness experience, and results in them feeling more calm and grounded.”

First up in the series was Sound Immersion with Kelly Landry in early September, where attendees were guided through an hour of deep relaxation and connection in lush, tranquil surroundings, before enjoying an on-the-go brunch and the chance to mingle and connect with one another.

Coming soon, another much-loved local yoga instructor will be stepping onto the mat for Gentle Vinyasa Yoga with Kat Harding, on Friday 4 October. Sunshine Coast-based Kat has been a student of yoga since she was a teenager, and is passionate about helping people create a deeper connection with themselves through a combination of breath and meditative movement. She teaches yoga internationally through retreats and workshops, and now leads teacher trainings with Zenko Yoga. Join her for a gentle morning flow that will dive not only into the physical practice of yoga – including pranayama (breathwork), asana (postures) and meditation – but introduce how the philosophies of yoga can be integrated on our mats and then into our lives. Sounds blissful to us! Plus save the date for Mat Pilates with Claire Toone from Noosa Flow on Friday 8 November.
