Curated Plate Sunshine Coast

Back for Seconds at The Curated Plate

After The Curated (side) Plate satisfied our cuisine cravings in 2022, Georgia Beard discovers how this ten-day foodie festival is emerging from the kitchen with another sensational celebration of local flavours.

The one thing Noosa loves best is a celebration of local flavours from homegrown produce to locally crafted drinks and dishes.

Our palates are always expanding, and our plates are never empty.

When The Curated (side) Plate 2022 delivered a rolling feast across ten days from the Sunshine Coast beaches to hinterlands, we tasted more than our stomachs could handle – and then some.

Hosting 91 events with 42 industry partners, this premier culinary festival brought the Sunshine Coast’s best venues, chefs, farmers, producers and foodies together to celebrate local.

From brunches and lunches to gourmet masterclasses to farmgate tours, we were spoiled for choice at this beautiful buffet.

Long tables stretched between green rows of crops as chefs plated up harvests from the very paddocks where guests feasted; visitors gathered on local plantations to learn the skills of farming and food preparation; fine diners followed every decadent course with a refreshing craft beer, local spirit, a rich glass of wine or a vibrant cocktail.

We satisfied our own appetites with a spread of sell-out events hosted by Hello Sunshine Magazine and IN Noosa Magazine! Amongst Palm Creek Estate’s forest retreat, our Sunday Soirée united local chefs, bakers, shakers and food lovers over a brightly coloured banquet!

Podcast, Pinot and Duck also treated guests to a marvellous three-course meal at Market Bistro while four local greats from our Everyone Has a Story podcast shared anecdotes and insights into their careers.

At the core of every culinary experience was connection. Whether passing a breadbasket to a stranger, sharing a station in a cooking class or discovering the secrets behind a distillery door, we learnt more about each other and not just where, but who, our food comes from.

Fresh from the kitchen, The Curated Plate will unite the region once again when their bite-sized festival transforms into a feast in 2023!

After two years of pandemic-induced postponements and last year’s taste of potential, local businesses and producers are hungry for opportunities to thrive.

The festival celebrates the contrast between organic produce and the nature it comes from through the culinary expertise and artistry of young legends, distinguished chefs and local farmers whose roots run deep.

Set against the backdrop of the Sunshine Coast’s endless beaches, towering rainforests and stunning mountain vistas, you’re invited to experience Queensland’s natural food bowl and tantalise our tastebuds on a whole new level.

We’re salivating already!

PODCAST & PINOT AT THE DOONAN

We’ve invited more local change-makers and local legends to deliver a thought-provoking and sense-stirring experience in The Doonan’s sprawling gardens and dining spaces for  Podcast & Pinot as part of The Curated Plate.

As we celebrate homegrown food and heartfelt hospitality in the newly opened multi-purpose venue, MC and podcaster John Caruso will head a panel of fascinating guest speakers including:

  • International DJ Superstar and creator of ARIA Chart topper Good Girl GoneDÉ SAINT
  • Actor and radio star Sam Coward
  • OzHarvest Sunshine Coast founder and coordinator, co-author and creator of SunnyCoast Eats and Sunshine Coast’s Citizen of the Year Michele Lipner
  • Rob Comiskey, Director of Comiskey Group, the family-owned development company behind The Doonan as well as multi-award-winning venues including Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel.

Indulge in a specially-designed menu by Head Chef Wayd Bailey featuring local produce and matched with the finest drops of Pinot, from sparkling wines to pinot gris and our favourite, pinot noir.

The event will raise much-needed funds to support OzHarvest’s vital work in rescuing food waste to help feed our community in need.

Last year’s event was a sell-out success and this year’s promises to be even more special with a few surprises in store!

As we embark on this sensory adventure during the winter months, we’ll find connection at the root of every experience – to the food we put in our bodies, the environments where it flourishes and the communities who produce and prepare it.
